3XI Match Report v Billingham Synthonia

Bishop Auckland CC 3rd XI returned to league cricket for the first time in several years at a sun-drenched Billingham Synthonia. Put into bat Bishops made slow steady progress with youngster James Dowson applying himself well batting for 17 overs for his 17 runs. Bishops regularly lost wickets and a well below par score looked likely until Joseph Macleod arrived at the crease. After his heroics for the 2nd XI yesterday he batted with both aggression and control to make an invaluable 23.The latter order added valuable runs with Ryan Crozier hitting a magnificent 6 the first of his senior career. After 40 overs Bishops reached 92-8.

Omar (Wally) Hind greeted the Billingham openers with aggressive pace unfortunately four dropped catches prevented that much needed breakthrough. As a result, Billingham’s openers reached 69 before Wally made a final over double breakthrough, firstly assisted by an outstanding one handed catch by Paul Barrow, followed by an LBW decision.

Unfortunately, with no scoreboard pressure Billingham strolled to a well-deserved victory in the twentieth over.

BACC 92-8 (Joseph Macleod 23 James Dowson 17)

Billingham Synthonia 96-2 (Omwale Hinds 2-29)
