George Century Sees Bishops Home at Marske

1XI Match Report v Marske CC (away)

BACC 1XI visited the very picturesque Windy Hill Lane ground on Saturday for their away fixture at Marske CC. Runs flowed after skipper Nathan Rimmington again lost the toss and the home side fielded first. Jack Rutherford made 45 before being caught on the line, Matt Cowling continued his impressive start to the year adding a brisk 38, Nathan Rimmington 25 and Scott Oldfield finished 20no. The highlight of Bishops first innings total of 270/5 was undoubtedly a fine century for the affable Craig George (pictured left). Coming in first drop, Craig batted patiently for his first 50 before unleashing an onslaught towards the end of his innings. His 101no came from 106 balls and included 8 fours and 5 sixes sharing a couple of excellent partnerships along the way. Chris Nicholls was the pick of the Marske bowlers with 4/77.

In reply Marske innings never really got going. Wickets fell quickly at first, indeed four of the top 6 batsman not reaching double figures. Impressive Aussie amateur Ben Roosenboom, along with opening partner Nathan Rimmington bowled fast and straight and with the help of some tidy slip catching the home side were reeling 35/5. Owen Batchelor played nicely for 20 and Harry Peirson hit 3 sixes in his 24, but as last man out Chris Nicholls fell stone dead, plumb LBW, to become the fourth wicket for Steve Chapman, Markse were all out for 76 in 30 overs.
