Another Draw for the 3XI

Sunday saw the 3rd XI travel to Station Road Ground to take on Sedgefield 3XI. With the toss lost the visitors were asked to field lead by Paul Imerson. Taking advantage of the new ball, wickets were taken leaving the hosts 56-2 with Tom Brandon the only player to show any resistance finishing his innings on 89 which saw 10 x 4s. As the new ball softened, runs were harder to come by as the short but sweet spell of skipper Paul Imerson closed out the innings, taking an impressive 4 for 12 to sweep through the remaining batsmen at the crease leaving the hosts with 188 all out to defend.

With 41 overs to chase the total down, the openers of James Harris and James Dowson put on 16 before James Harris departed bowled by Darren Bill. As the chase progressed, wickets fell at regular intervals with the only stand out performance being James Holiday’s 47 having partnerships with 4 of his other teammates. After the 41 gritty overs, Bishop secured the losing draw ending their innings on 141/8.
