3XI Victory Against 'Pools Young Guns

Bishops 3XI entertained Hartlepool IV seeking their first win of the season. A youthful Hartlepool side won the toss and opted to bat. Showing great aptitude and skill Hartlepool batted their 40 overs for an impressive 194-4 with opener JP Rathbone scoring 97 before succumbing to the last ball of the innings chasing those magical three figures. David Robinson bowled two excellent 4 over spells returning 2-25. James Holliday bowled a consistent 8 overs for only 24 runs keeping a tight rein on the Hartlepool batsmen.

Bishops set about the task of achieving victory with a controlled but steady accumulation of runs. Out of form Jacob Dinger rode his good fortune gradually building an impressive partnership with David Robinson of 120 runs. Jacob finally succumbed for an impressive 74. The platform was laid for a match winning acceleration ably achieved by a mature half century from David Robinson plus a whirlwind 20 from 11 balls by Omawale Hinds secured victory in the 34th over. A fine all-round performance kept an attainable target achievable with a sound team spirit and belief in victory. Great support from a whole range of senior players on the sidelines motivated the 3rds to their first victory of the season onwards and upwards for the club.
