2 Wins To Start For BACC

17 Apr 2022

Finally, after a long winter, the cricket season got underway yesterday with BACC recording wins in both senior team games. Please find the match reports below.

1XI Report

Nathan Rimmington lost the toss in BACC 1XI home game v Wolviston. After a relatively slow start, on a green pitch the home side were 42/2 after 12 overs before a fine 50 run partnership between Craig George & Matthew Cowling got things moving a little more fluently. George was out for a well-made 21 and after the fall of skipper Rimmington, Cowling and Ian Grainger launched a devastating attach on the Wolviston bowlers. Matt Cowling eventually fell for 82 from 98 balls in a knock that included 4 fours and 4 sixes, as the pair added a 140 run partnership. Ian Grainger was brutal, finishing the innings on 99not out from only 64 balls which included 5 fours and 7 sixes and a strike rate of 154.69. BACC closed their innings on 263/5 after their 50 overs

In reply Wolviston started brightly. Fish and Mannen played nicely for an opening partnership of 36 before Nathan Rimmington had Mannen caught hooking, the first of his 5 wickets. He then clean bowled Andy Fish shortly afterwards and our quest for 10 wickets was well and truly underway. Some excellent fielding from the home side made scoring runs quite tough for our visitors on the slow outfield. Ian Grainger chipped in with 2/12 to complete a stellar day for himself before the visitors were all out for 128 in the 47th over.

BACC 263/5 (Matt Cowling 82 Ian Grainger 99no)

Wolviston 128All Out (Nathan Rimmington 5/56 Ian Grainger 2/12)

2XI Report

The season opener for BACC 2XI was away at Yarm CC. Skipper Paul Barrow won the toss and elected to field on what look a good bowling track. Bishop was rewarded by reducing Yarm to what seemed a relatively low 112 all out. Thomas Stones and Martyn Howe both taking 3 wickets apiece. In reply Bishop collapsed to 21 for 4 before David Jacob’s and Neil Bancroft partnership of 49 got the scoreboard moving before Jacobs was clean bowled for 31 and Bishop still requiring 30 to win. Bishop’s tail wagged thanks to another smaller partnership between the skipper and Marty Howe and the winning run came from a wide with 9 wickets down.

Yarm CC 112 All out (Thomas Stones 6.1 overs 3/8 Marty Howe 10 overs 3/35)

BACC 113/9 (David Jacobs 31 Neil Bancroft 14 Marty Howe 13no)
